This home was built to duplicate a spec home that we built several years ago, because the homeowner fell in love with it. Some minor alterations were made to the original plan, but, overall, the houses are very similar.

This home is a new spec house that we are building in the NoCo area. This home is part of our continuing efforts to provide quality, affordable housing, for everyone. We have successfully built, nearly, 15 homes in this area, drastically improving the quality of the area. We currently have three homes that we are building in the NoCo area, including our first true modern house.

The Lorick House

This project is a restoration of a historic mansion, in downtown Columbia, for a local law firm. Located at 1727 Hampton Street in Columbia, South Carolina, the historic Lorick House is approximately seven blocks from the state capital and three blocks east of the central business district. The Lorick House property is comprised of approximately 1.27 acres and is individually listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

The Lorick House was constructed beginning in the 1840s; in the late 1800s, alterations to the house included extending the portico to a full porch and the addition of elaborate woodwork and 12’ high ceilings throughout the foyer, double parlors, library, and dining room. The landscape includes many original plants and trees (magnolias and oaks) as well as other historic landscape features and open space.

The National Trust for Historic Preservation, a private non-profit organization, recently received the Lorick House through its Gifts of Heritage program. The preservation of the Lorick House, which is significant to Columbia’s history and owned by one family for over 130 years, has been ensured by the placement of a perpetual conservation and preservation easement on the property by the National Trust

The Farm

For this project, the homeowner had two 1800′s cabins moved to his property and connected together to form one structure. A brick foundation and two fireplaces were constructed for the structure. The homeowner has contracted Celtic Works to complete the restoration of the cabin, into a functional hunting/retreat center. There was extensive termite damage to the existing framework, which we have just finished remediating. We are currently finishing framing and will begin the trade rough-ins shortly.

2706 Mineral Springs

This home is inspired by the Pitot House in New Orleans, LA. The homeowner loved the architecture of this home and commissioned Leslie Tyrone to design a custom home, loosely based on the Pitot House. We began construction in August of 2009, and completed in June of 2010. There were many hours spent in the planning stage of this project, to ensure the best materials were used, to achieve the look the homeowner desired, but, to also fit in the budget. Some minor details had to be sacrificed, due to budget restraints, however, things like 20″ endura stone columns, exposed rafter tails, stucco exterior, solid wood exterior french doors and heart pine wood floors were incorporated. Overall, this home has a definite French Creole feel, that the homeowner is very excited about.

Modern House

This 1,100 SF single-family dwelling includes 2 bedrooms and 2 full baths with an open living/dining/kitchen space. Design features include IKEA kitchen cabinets, stained concrete floors, stack washer/dryer, large back patio, and a green screen/trellis at the entry porch. Cockaboose

This project was a collaboration with interior designer, Jim Lamb. The entire caboose was gutted and new floor, ceiling and walls were installed. Every detail of this project was completed with utmost care. As seen from the pictures below, the final project was a great success!
