I love this design. It may be a few years before I want to transition homes again, but I will certainly explore what you might have to offer in something like this when the time comes.

Are you building anywhere other than the Eau Claire area? I currently live on the Irmo side of town, which is close to work and many other aspects of my life.

  2. I love LOVE it when I see architects and builders working to make affordable modern housing. The 100k house was a great example of this, and now Celtic Works and Studio 2LR have come up with another shinning example.

  3. We currently have projects all over Columbia, and we have done several homes in the Irmo area. Please, give us a call, or shoot us an email, we’d love to talk to you! We are currently building a modern custom home on Lake Murray that has a similar look to this one. Check out the link below.

Really nice place. I am in Ohio, and my home has a similar style(built 1961). We really like the treatment of the windows and the entry, with the contrast. Gave us a lot of ideas. If you don’t mind sharing, what is the roof pitch and roofing material? We have a very low slope roof, and are torn between low cost/frequent replacement and High dollar/lifetime types. We would also be interested in the treatment of the front fascia just below the roof line. Whoever gets the place will really have a gem.

  5. Thanks, glad you like it! The roof pitch is 2.5″/12″. It is standard asphalt shingles, over snow and ice shield. the fascia, on the entire house, is Hardi-Plank. We are building another custom modern home that has a flat roof, that has a gentle slope toward drains, placed in the middle of the roof, and the drains run down through interior walls, and out through the slab. On that house, we used a product called Hydro-Stop. You can see that home by following the link below.

    Good luck with your project!

  6. With design costs, build costs, land acquisition, and everything else, homes are expensive. Add a layer to that, that homes be sustainable, or somewhat “green,” and they get more expensive. Yet folks want these homes to be cut-rate affordable. It’s tough to do and a new modern home in Columbia, South Carolina, perhaps gives us an idea of what an affordable, light green home could look like.

  7. I love the modern work. Green home with high efficiency.

We are thinking of relocating to Greenville, SC? Do you build in that area? If not, do you recommend another design firm?

    Thanks

Very clean/practical …postmodern. Is it green?

There are many green technologies that went into this home, like Spray Foam Insulation, Fiber Cement Siding, Concrete Floors and cabinets from Ikea, who use green technologies in their manufacturing processes.
